Position Summary:
The Fitness Manager is responsible for leading the Personal Training department, driving revenue through team performance, and ensuring an outstanding member experience. This leader coaches, develops, and motivates the training staff while managing key business metrics and service quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Coaching
- Hire, train, and manage a team of certified personal trainers
- Conduct regular 1-on-1 meetings, team trainings, and performance reviews
- Motivate the team to meet and exceed individual and department goals
Business & Sales Management
- Achieve monthly personal training revenue goals (individual & team)
- Track key performance indicators: sessions serviced, sales conversion, retention
- Support trainers in delivering compelling consultations and sales presentations
- Drive new business through outreach, events, and member engagement
Operations & Scheduling
- Manage trainer schedules to optimize floor coverage and member support
- Ensure team follows all operational policies and safety standards
- Oversee onboarding and programming for new training clients
Member Experience
- Monitor training session quality and customer satisfaction
- Act as a resource for members with fitness questions or concerns
- Address complaints or rescheduling issues promptly and professionally
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of fitness industry or management experience preferred
- Current nationally recognized Personal Training certification (NASM, ACE, ISSA, etc.)
- CPR/AED Certification (or willing to obtain)
- Proven leadership and sales abilities
- Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills
- Passion for fitness and commitment to member success
