Position Overview

As a Shift Manager at Steak 'n Shake, you are responsible for leading your team through successful shifts by ensuring high operational standards, exceptional guest service, and a positive team atmosphere. You’ll supervise front- and back-of-house operations, manage staff performance, and uphold brand values while promoting an energetic and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coach team members to deliver outstanding guest experiences.

• Supervise day-to-day shift operations, including food quality, speed of service, and cleanliness.

• Maintain adherence to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.

• Train new employees and provide ongoing feedback and support.

• Handle guest concerns in a professional and timely manner.

• Monitor inventory and complete shift paperwork, cash handling, and deposits accurately.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.

• Foster teamwork, boost morale, and promote a positive, respectful work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of restaurant or food service experience in a leadership role.

• Strong leadership and communication skills.

• Ability to multitask, stay organized, and remain calm under pressure.

• Basic knowledge of food safety and labor management.

• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.

• Lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.

• Perform hands-on duties including assisting in kitchen or service areas as needed.
